[SRO Interview]
The Woods – The Final Breaths of a Main Character
(Raul B. Fernandez)

I’m actually finishing something I started a long time ago. Raul B. Fernandez is back, again! This is his biggest project to date. You can find out all about it here. Or you can just read on. I’m a big fan of the animation in the second half of the video. Get out the kettle corn and try to make yourself prepared.

Wired talked Music Videos: We talked to Wired

In case you haven’t checked out the latest issue of Wired, they snuck in a little article (also available online) about music videos coming back into relevance thanks to the internet and the work of some talented directors. The article was penned by Jake Swearingen who picked the brains of directors like Keith Schofield and Cat Solen as well as pundits like yours truly to try and get a feel for the new music video landscape. Now that the article hit the streets we turned the tables on Jake to …

DEATH

Even though we had some tough love for DCFC’s latest release Narrow Stairs, we’re still very interested to see how the boys support it in the music video realm.

Here at SRO we love hearing from directors, be it to yell at us for berating their work, or to inform us of interesting facts about their videos. After our post of the new Nas clip for ‘Be a N***er Too’, director Rik Cordero contacted us to fill us in with a bit of information about his video and to set us straight on a few things too.

MARQUEZ

It’s been awhile since we’ve done a proper interview on the site, so it’s with great pleasure I present to you a relative newcomer to the game, Manny Marquez. I’d advise those who are squeamish not to fear the length of this interview, as each different answer is an insight into a world that many are trying to break into as well as a look at the blood, sweat, and tears that goes into directing something with substance and quality. On the outside this may look like an effects-laden piece, but from the inside, this is an intricate project that anyone with an understanding of production can look at and take away some value. So catch this marvel of old-and-new technology and venture forth upon this road to enlightenment. If anything, MM is a pretty cool dude with a right proper beard. Be a friend and leave him some love.

Butterfingers

There is a fine line between genius and insanity, and Lung at Perish Factory knows how to straddle both sides of the fence at the same time. Inherently, he has made an extremely simple video, complicated. Everyone love’s it and he doesn’t even seem to care. We came to him wondering about his inspirations and passion for music videos and this is what we got.

Kanye West: “I’m really not as rich as people think I am, I don’t have that Fuck You type money.” – Genius. I want fuck-you-money.

We told you that shit was just a teaser. So for all those silly blogs, wake up, and quit posting on things you don’t know about. For the informed, we have some treats for you so get up in them. Seriously, this is ALL GOLD. He drops knowledge left and right, and Spike does a great job of asking the questions we want to hear the answers to. This is Kanye West, un-cut and un-censored. If you only watch five videos this week, watch these. Check the videos and info after the jump.
