Now that Iron Man 2 has dropped upon us all, is it safe to say that it was not quite the level of awesome that it was hoped to be? Don’t get us wrong, it was a solid film, but it wasn’t exceptional. In fact, compared side by side next to its predecessor, is one really better than the other? Are they really any different, aside from the villains, both of which employ the same tactic (of stealing the “Arc Reactor Technology” embedded within Mr. Tony Stark)?
Hear us out okay. …

Romain-Gavras doesn’t make music videos on the regular. In fact his last was two years ago for Justice’s “Stress”. At the time, it had created quite the commotion and his latest work for M.I.A. has just about topped that.
“Born Free” is a very heavy, distorted, punk-ish single off M.I.A.’s upcoming June 29th release. It’s a departure from her normal infusion of world music & effects, however it still keeps within her boundary-free style. One could only imagine what kind of shot could come of this song and it appears no …

We’re pretty sure Jenny Lewis is on your radar. Girls love her. Boys (insert depreciating pun) her. Critics, well, they largely ignore her. Not us! We listened to her latest album Acid Tongue and one of us liked it. Yeah it’s a darker trip from Rabbit Fur Coat but you know that saying about cute on the outside.
Here we have a tidy throwback shot to those espionage films of the 60’s. It’s like a southern tinged version of The Beastie Boys “Sabatoge” shot, that has some of that latin flavor. …

Well, Saturday came and went, and now we can all see The Dead Weather’s newest shot for “Treat Me Like Your Mother”. And when we say “shot” we ain’t joking. On the surface it may not be much, but we’d love to talk to Glazer and get some insight on where this idea stemmed from, what they wanted to convey with this video, why shoot in a field behind a housing track, where he drew inspiration from specifically, and find out what kind of direction he had to throw at …

The Faint videos always end up pissing our computers off. You gotta hand it to them for sticking with their style, especially when we doubt any of their videos are anyone’s favorites. The fellas are definitely getting a bit crazy with the visuals for the Fasciinatiion album, and “Mirror Error” is no exception. We have a feeling they’ve been doing these types of videos as of late, to compliment their live shows. Now, we haven’t seen their shows as of late, but from what we can remember from the last …

We’re big fans of Chris Milk over here at SRO. We’re also pretty big fans of photography and how the development of the technology is further getting pushed and explored. So don’t be surprised that we’re posting this short by Chris Milk for the 42 Second Dream Film Festival. What’s a “42 Second Dream Film Festival” you ask? We’ll let them describe it to you:
In this spirit, 42BelowTM vodka has commissioned 42 of the top filmmakers in the world today to give us their 42-second visions, 42-second hearts …

It’s no secret that we’re fans of Emily Haines in whatever incarnation she takes upon herself, be it Broken Social Scene, Soft Skeleton, or Metric. With Metric’s latest, Fantasies, Haines & company keep the streak alive with another round of solid joints that you can dance to, make-out to, or drift away to. That’s the inner beauty, among many, to Metric’s music. While Haines is specific with the words she chooses inside of her lyrics, the music in turn backs her up as a variable, which allows the band …

If you’ve yet to listen to Merriweather Post Pavilion by now, it’s a wonder you’re even at this site. You’re probably here by mistake, and maybe you should leave. Animal Collective’s latest is arguably the year’s top album thus far and things don’t look to be changing. Known for their abrasive visual imagery from past videos like “Peacebone” and “Who Could Win A Rabbit“, it was intriguing to see what kind of style the group would adopt for Merriweather.
It was only a matter of time before they took to …
