Dirty Projectors – Stillness Is The Move
(Matthew Lessner)

Believe it or not, you are about to watch a rap video. I know it’s the Dirty Projectors. I know the song is “Stillness Is The Move”. I know they play a kind of alt indie rock. But I’m telling you kids, shit is a rap/hip-hop video. It’s still a damn good video whether you believe me or not.
For the sake of your time and mine, I’m gonna run through this shit, so keep up. Rap/Hip-hop videos are known for a few staples, such as exotic locales, fine women, dancing, crazy fashion, sweet rides, & sick beats/hooks among other things. Guess what this video has in it’s own alt way? Allow me to blow your minds:
1.) Drum Machine = Drum Machine
2.) Pricking Strings = Sick Beat/Loop
3.) Forest Mountaintop (aka: Forest Moon of Endor) = Exotic Locale
4.) Female Singers = Fine Women
5.) Synchronized Dancing = Synchronized Dancing
6.) Matching Outfits = Matching Outfits
7.) Crazy Fashion = Crazy Fashion
8.) Huskies/Wolves = PitBulls/Doberman Pincers
9.) Harmonizing/Singing = Auto-Tune
10.) Dude shepherding the Llama/Alpaca = Ghost Riding the Whip
Yeah, my shit doesn’t sound so crazy after all does it? That’s what I thought. Before you check out, let me just say what a kick ass job Lessner & DP Adam Newport Berra (any relation to Steve?) did. My favorite part though? Has to be Amber Coffman dressed up as a Jedi in white robes, straight bobbing and weaving to the beat like a champ. This song is the Jam, off an album (Bitte Orca) that is guaranteed to be in most respectable outlets Top 10 of ‘09. Now turn your levels up, and blast this joint!
