KATE MICUCCI – Walking In Los Angeles
(Raul B. Fernandez)

Surprised to see a video posted on our site? Me too! However Raul B. Fernandez carries around an Awesome Stick and threatened to use it on me. At first I thought, that would be cool, but it only makes him more awesome. I was going to say a few words about how thoughtful and smart this next video is, but he shut me up and told me to just put this:
The concept for the video was first inspired by the aged texture of the song recording. I wanted Kate to “walk” all over town and interact with lots of people when, in reality, she’s not going anywhere. I have been wanting to use the hand behind the TV trick for years and thought this was a great opportunity for it.
I brought together some of my favorite people in all departments and we set off on shooting what ended up being about five days including all the background b-roll filming (The DP, Zack Savitz, rolled backwards down several city sidewalks in some sweet old roller blades[Those are some sweet blades]). We shot on every format: my grandfather’s Bolex 16mm, a Canon Super8mm, over the shoulder VHS, and Sony EX HD with 35mm lenses. Apart from a few stock footage shots, everything in the video was shot or made by the team in one way or another, including the School House Rock rip off.
Almost all the props in the room are beg/ borrow/ steal items from friends and every department at USC that would give us old A/V equipment.
While we worked on a very small budget we were able to get everything we wanted and I am absolutely thrilled at the result.
Also these pictures from the set are tops.
