Low vs Diamond – Heart Attack (Marc Klasfeld)

I was introduced to Low Vs. Diamond as the band Colored Shadows on a 2 song CD single that was handed to me outside the Troubadour in West LA sometime in 2006. My cohort James later told me it was the best free CD he had ever gotten…and he was quite right. ‘Life After Love’ and ‘Stay Awake’ were two killer songs that pushed the band into relative success. Well here we are two years later and their debut self titled album has hit and lead off single ‘Heart Attack’ has gotten the video treatment.

It’s basically an idea stolen from a sony commercial, stretched from its original 30 seconds into a 3 minute concept.

So who cares right? The video is still highly enjoyable and even though Marc Klasfeld was ‘inspired’ by someone else’s idea, he still does a great job in his adaptation. I like how he sticks with the close up for most of the shot and then ties it all together into a neat little package at the end. Concise and to the point.

WAIT A MINUTE. I just now realized this, but this guy’s director history reads like a fraternity bro’s iTunes. Alien Ant Farm, Juvenile, Sum-41, Floetry, Bon Jovi, Foo Fighters, Jewel, Slipknot, Insane Clown Posse….shit I gotta stop right there. Man, I guess you just run out of ideas when you’ve been directing since 96. Come on Marc, did you think no one was gonna find out. Forgetting all of this, I still like the video and Low vs Diamond deserved a great promo, which is what they got.

Here is the link to the commercial that Marc copied.
