CASTLES

UPDATE: This video is apparently very unofficial and the link below to the video has been removed. We’ll see if this surfaces in another format so wait it out. Until then, at least you have some words to read.

At this point, I’m still trying to wrap my head around Crystal Castles. Since May we’ve been following this duo regularly, checking in on their shenanigans and giving you kids a heads up when they’ve got something worthwhile (see Courtship Dating). They got some cool shit going on sometimes, but seriously, at times they make me feel like doing this.More often than not when their “songs” come up on random on the iPod.

This time we find them with longtime co-conspirators The Beta Movement. I don’t wanna be that guy, but we start in with a heavy steal nod to Stanley Kubrick’s A Clockwork Orange. Not unlike that other electro-duo with the Kubrickian video. The other half of the video looks like a bar where that robot, from the Svedka Vodka ads, would hole up.

All grand theft aside, this shot is still pretty slick and is a proper companion to the song, taking the duo from the blogosphere and putting their hat into the real game of becoming a serious solid act. And even though they have a pretty fuckin’ cool Mr. Galaxy Face, I still prefer this mask face. We may not agree with some of choices of The Beta Movement made this time around, but we like where they’ve taken CC.

Now, if we could just get this promo for their album out of our heads. Shit’s fucked up!

Vanished. A fitting name for this video especially taking into account recent events surrounding its disappearance.

Well, the video link is still in my RSS reader. If this is unofficial someone spent alot of money making something not approved.

Tell me about it Aldo. This is all too strange. We get two emails, one from their friends who don’t want The Beta Movement to see the video, and then the standard Lawyer cease and desist crap. What gets us, is that we didn’t host the video, we just linked it. Who is hosting the video might you ask? Why it’s their own Prod. Company Refused.tv. They may have removed the viewable links from their site, but the video is still there. Strange days…

Ethan and Alice are tired of people downloading their unreleased
stuff and their thinking of quitting the band so please don’t
    link their stuff

    thank you

HC: If we don’t link anything, even stuff approved by either the video production company and/or label, then how does the band even get it’s name out there. And the downloading of “unreleased stuff” is the nature of the music business beast these days. Everyone else is taking the proper precautions and dealing with it. If they can do it, I’m sure E and A can as well.
