Shad – The Old Prince Still Lives at Home (Hot Dog Garbage )

I don’t know much about Shad, but after seeing this video I’m ready to be his best friend and buy all his records. This video is fucking ridiculous and I might go so far as to say ‘Best Rap Video Of The Year!’. Thanks to my pal Jeff over at Boooooom! for passing this one over to me. Somehow it slipped by my diligent watch of the Forkcast. Anyway, this one is for anybody who grew up in the 90’s and remembers a time when Will Smith was cool and used to rap with DJ Jazzy Jeff. Now he’s all rich and married and raising kids.

I might have been kidding about ‘Best Rap Video’ but this is definitely creativity at its finest. Besides not having the scenes in order, the rest of this mimicry is spot on. I love that high-step from the cab move, it gets me every time. Keep it coming Shad. And here’s some bonus footage from those days of yore, ‘Mind your business, just mind your business!’

    they did the scenes all exactly backwards… cuz he ‘lives at home still’..and goes from hollywood back to philly… or.. london, in shad’s case :P …

    damn you right – wow that makes me like the video even more. the ending is kinda stupid but the verse is so good it makes up for it, really reminds me of J-live at the end.

    Good pick up. I knew something wasn’t right with the order. I’m with Jeff on the ending, it’s too bad they couldn’t have stretched the material out a bit more and done away with it.

    I believe we are all in agreeance that this should’ve been longer. I almost threw my computer when the video stopped with the error message. However, isn’t that meta or something, that his poorness leaks not only into his going home, but to his music and subsequent video as well? Or is that a silly coincidence that the talent/director will take credit for accidentally?
