It’s times like these that I’m glad Ace Norton and his quirky sense of style is around. I won’t lie to you and say that I wasn’t about to write off the damn thing within 10 seconds of the video, as I thought we were gonna see some Borat influenced piece. However, as I hung in there I realized I shouldn’t have worried.
Before we get started lets get those in the back of the class caught up. Most of you probably don’t know who Sebastien Tellier is, but for some, you may recognize him as his Ed Banger Records alter ego Sebastian. (Whoops not sure what Los was thinking) Yes, that picture above is no joke, this guy is friends with Daft Punk. Anyways, he wants to enter and, of course, win this crazy thing called the Eurovision Song Contest. Best I could tell it’s a contest between countries to see who has the better song. I suppose like an American Idol-meets-Saddest Music In The World-via-Beerfest type show, pitting countries versus each other.
Along with writing this song for the contest and upcoming album “Sexuality”, Tellier enlisted Norton to get him on the tube with a video for it, and voila! Here we are with a rather light affair, that isn’t quite groundbreaking, but it’s definitely worth a shot. Look closely for the ever present Ace mixing it up in the frame too! 1 My favorite parts are the random Sebastien’s that don’t seem to look exactly as he does, the random events in which we find each Sebastien (specifically, beating some dude up), and his choice of outfits when given the opportunity. Watch this and smile kids. Keep it greasy.
