Lykke Li – I’m Good, I’m Gone (Mattias Montero)

Damn, another new video from another one of my favorite artists of ‘08. The performace rendition of this song is gone, and has now been replaced with another tip-top visual similar in style to her ‘Little Bit’ video of yore. A lot of frame-cuts, stop-motion, dancing, and long hallway shots. The first half is a bit creepy though, reminding me of scenes from the Shining, when the twin girls in dresses are in the corridors. All of this leads me to guess that it’s Mattias Montero at it again, but I’ll wait and see who pops up to take director credit.. Looks like it is MM. I’ll let you know when a Quicktime is available too.

As the video goes, it’s plain awesome. Maybe I’m a little biased because the song is probably in contention for my single of the year, or that Lykke Li is one of my two favorite women in music right now (other being Laura Marling). Despite this, I still feel that it’s a strong visual that is both captivating and artistic, ready for the consumption and critique of the interweb masses. Has anyone else noticed that Lykke Li has that ’shoulder dance’ on lock. She should patent that shit. It might become the ‘Superman’ of 2008.

Also of note, I’m not sure why any of the big Internet Music Players (IMP) got to handle this release. Everyone who is anyone knows Lykke Li is on fire right now, waiting to explode into the hearts of American culture. Right? Well good for us I guess. Big thanks to Chris for putting this up and alerting me to it.

love this song too. I can’t seem to get away from how anti-climatic the first chorus is (with the elderly singing in the seats). The rest of the video is so spot-on.
