The Acorn – Flood Pt. 1 (Christopher Mills)

If anybody missed this being dropped last Friday, here it is again because it’s definitely worth a look. These kids are from Ottawa….I know, Canadian music was so 2002, but come on. Broaden your horizons. Canadian music will be cool again soon. So if we can make an exception and include them on our pretentious Monthly Mix, then you can spare some time and enjoy their video. Their album Glory Hope Mountain, came out early last year which makes me wonder why it’s taken so long for this video to drop. Maybe that’s the new way to do things, who are we to say. Anyway, the video is an arty affair, not in a stuck-up-I-am-richer-than-you way, but in a we-drew-some-shit-and-decided-to-animate-it sort of way. It visualizes the lyrics spot on, with it’s cut-out animation and Chris Mills’ direction.
One thing is for certain after watching this, if you need a video that is full of multi-layered cut-out art, mixed with fancy changes of perspective, all wrapped up in some slick animation, then Mr. Mills is the man to go to. He has that shit on lock. He’s been making the same video since 2002. Interpol. Broken Social Scene. Modest Mouse. Fuck, ‘Float On’, is six years old. Where does the time go. This is why I’m going to get into Polyphasic Sleep. I just need more time. I’ll let you know how it goes.
