Welcome to part II of our quest to pick at Ace Norton’s brain and take everything that isn’t bolted to his noggin. For those of you who missed out on the previous installment, make sure you have eaten and check it out first, then return to us for round two!
In this episode we find ourselves knee deep in a city that is one part DDR and one part Rampage. We’d call it CrazyTown, but with Bloc Party in charge of the soundtrack, well it’s just another day in the hood, now isn’t it? Follow along and find out what a Vegetius
SRO: Do any of the monsters/robots have names?
Ace: Unibouzu, Vegetius, The Grudyin, Gii the Space Pirate, and the Steam Powered Tentacle Boulder.

SRO: Wow. Okay, so how long did it take to build/destroy the model city?
Ace: It took 2 days to build and 2 hours for city/building destruction.

SRO: Because of your last few shots, would it be safe to say this a sign that you’re becoming a band-less director exclusively?
Ace: Not at all. Lately I’ve been inspired more by electronic music because the artists are more open to push the envelope and experiment by making different and less traditional music videos. The music lends itself to really creative and different ideas, and I embrace that challenge. Most electronic acts want to keep their image at bay and more of a mystery (ie. Daft Punk, The Chemical Bros, etc) so their clips tend to be less about them and more about the director’s vision.
SRO: Hmm, very well put. Who’s idea was this? Did you seek out the band or was it vice-versa?
Ace: I was invited to write on the track. I wrote up a few treatments and the label/management/band picked this one. Fred Astaire meets Godzilla, you can’t go wrong!
