HAINES

Someone mentioned to us that Emily Haines newest video featured her in X-Ray vision. How pissed were we when it turned out to be the standard airport x-ray style vision.Actually Luke from Rokkit TV tells us that this was shot using Thermal Imaging cameras and not some crazy post x-ray vision effect. Who knew? Thanks Luke! Yeah I know, call us crude or juvenile, you know you were all hoping for the same thing we were. We’ll just pretend that we totally expected this type of x-ray vision and promise not to call you out if you don’t call us out.

Although, really, who could have expected this kind of x-ray shot video. It completely fits Emily’s whole preoccupation with thy inner self. Hence her band’s name The Soft Skeleton. Its one of those, “Duh” moments, where we realize, what better way to show the insides of people than with x-ray vision.

Much like her music off of her latest solo album Knives Don’t Have Your Back the video is dark, but just on the cusp of being pitch black. The imagery that runs throughout the journey that is this video is of an awkward or disturbing style, which adds to the creepy soundtrack. But make no mistake, this is all anchored by Emily’s voice, which is unmistakable and irreplaceable.

It was actually shot with thermal imagining cameras.

It’s NOT post-treated footage made to look like an x-ray.
