[SRO Movie] Electroma
(Daft Punk)

ELECTROMA

Much has been said regarding Daft Punk’s Electroma. The reviews have been mixed to say the least and here’s why. The film premiered at the Cannes Film Festival and people walked out on it. Then DP began having midnight screenings primarily in Paris, then one shots in Canada, Australia, London, Berlin, and Los Angeles. The film then became popular enough that the initial run was extended a whole six months.

[Set Photos] Great Lake Swimmers - Your Rocky Spine

Our main man, Scott Cudmore has hooked us up a first look at his new video for Great Lake Swimmers. He’s finished shooting and is now just putting the final magical touches on the clip, so be on the lookout for the premier in the next month. They couldn’t have chosen a better song from Ongiara — ‘Your Rocky Spine’ being one of the best, not only from the album but from their entire catalog (only ‘I Will Never See the Sun’ tops it in my book). It’s definitely in my top 20 songs of the year list too, so if you haven’t heard it, do yourself a favor and get your listen on. All the goodies, after the jump.

[SRO Movie] Heima
(Dean DeBlois)

SIGUR

Sigur Ros isn’t the type of band that’s gonna get a party started in any sense, but they will help you do other such important things like, make a drive in the country more majestic. They will help you seal the deal with that certain someone and keep it going for a certain amount of time. And they can soundtrack your downtime, be it reading, napping, cleaning, cooking, etc. As people in general, well since they’re from Iceland, they speak slowly with a heavy accent and any project they put their mind to automatically makes you feel selfish, lazy and ugly. Glad their making a movie to help continue this.

[SRO Movie] Im Not There
(Todd Haynes)

THERE

Ever the sly hipsters, we here at SRO like to give you the info on what to be on the lookout for from time to time. Sometimes it has nothing to do with music, video, or music videos, however these two subjects have almost everything to do with music and video…or film to be exact. Yes, music is once again jumping into the forefront of the film world and who better to lead us than Bob Dylan.

Animal Collective - Peacebone
(Timothy Saccenti)

ANIMAL

God bless the Animal Collective. There is absolutely no reason why any reasonably normal human being can even begin to understand what the hell kinda sounds these guys are making with their instruments. Yet, for some unknown reason, they speak to people. Hidden within their sick, twisted imagery and spastic high-pitched sound, there’s a gravitational appeal which pulls us around it like the sun and the planets.

Beirut - Postcards From Italy
(Alma Har’el)

BEIRUT

It’s one of the most beautiful songs I’ve heard in a while and all I wanted was to try and keep it company. - Alma Har’el

It’s been a bit since we’ve had a visit from our dear old friend Alma Har’el, and ever the sweetheart, she’s gone and brought us a fresh slice of her newest Beirut pie for an oldie but goody, “Postcards from Italy”. Its a timeless companion piece to add to her previous work for “Elephant Gun“. Blending the past and the present and running it through her distinct vintage filter, Mrs. Har’el shows us not only how far we’ve come, but also how very much the same we are. Once again we had a nice little chat with her about the video, the beauty of our memories, and as always she gave us her advice on the certain outfit that drives the ladies wild. So strap in for a timeless ride forward into the past and don’t worry, where we’re going we won’t need roads.
