The Klaxons Videography
(Saam Faramand & Oliver Evans)

Klaxons

Why aren’t you listening to the Klaxons? Perhaps they are a bit too much noise and art and not enough dance and pop? Well shame on you because these Brits got the moves, the beats, and the hoodies necessary to cook you up some dance-art-noise flavor. Here’s a video tour to prove my point.

First stop is Atlantis to Interzone, which pretty much nails the neon-chalkboard-dancing-performance-piece genre. There are also lasers and strobe lights and mega-80’s garb that I’m 100% jealous of. I may have been ages 0-10 in the 80’s but I’m pretty sure it was the highlight of my fashion career. Vision Streetwear and Jimmy-Z!

Moving to the Saam Faramand section of the tour, next up is Gravity’s Rainbow. It’s a psychedelic, infinite-television romp that’s sure to impress everybody except Rian Johnson.

Third on our journey is Magick, where the chaps get dark and brooding and juicy… green juicy. If the question is “we got a room and some blacklights and some goo, what now?” this video is a pretty good answer. My eyes feel like this sometimes.

Finally we have the newly released Golden Skans, which features much slow motion jumping, much tube smashing, and much sparkly male pagentry all in the name of interpreting the beginning and end of the universe. The kids at rantville feel like there is a bit of Fisherspooner influence going on here. Ultimately it’s a very superficial similarity and Saam’s work stands on its own.

More important are the similarities to the Jacksons Can You Feel It?.

What the hell? Why didn’t I know the Jacksons were up to insane shit like this until now? It’s pretentious as hell and it has TIE Fighter sound effects for no goddamn reason and giant 500 ft. tall Jacksons spread pixie dust all over the city. Yeah, it’s that good. Advantage: Jacksons.

The range of creativity here has blown me to bits. Simply complexly awesome videos. I’m ashamed to be sitting back on my arse while videos like these are being made.
