Rarely (if at all) am I ’shroomin’ or tripped out on acid, so I’m not the biggest Animal Collective fan in existence. Suffice to say though, that I’m glad because this video is way disturbing. And since I lean more to the hippie side of things when it comes to being in -ahem- another state of mind, I believe that if I were to get loaded out of my mind and saw this shot, I would probably puke and believe it to be some sort of weird alien like being and run wildly into the night wearing only a tutu and knee socks and be found the next morning lying naked in a field having tried to eat my own stomach out of myself.
Okay, so I’m exaggerating….slightly. But seriously folks, I doubt I’ll ever look at the ol’ Tortoise vs. The Hare fable the same way again. And even though the Hare freaks the shit out of me, for some reason, I keep coming back to this video and was super excited when I happened upon it to share with you folks.
Though truly a wild take on a popular childhood story, this shot was done on a super low budget and was helped by friends of the band in the costume department. You can read a decent interview with the director Danny Perez here, where he talks shit on music videos in general and that certain overrated Film School, NYU (at least for those of us who couldn’t get in and whatnot).
Now that I’ve built up your expectations (at least for those who haven’t seen this) take a few minutes to prepare for the horrible awesomeness that “Who Could Win a Rabbit” will expose you to. Oh and make sure you’ve eaten before you check this. Booyakasha!!

Animal Collective - “Who Could Win a Rabbit”
Directed by Danny Perez

The QT is really only 14.3MB. Don’t let them lie to you.
Ok all I have to say is ewe. Juding by the pictures from above the video I figured that this video was not going to be great. I was kind of lame actually. They totally could have done a better job with it even though it was low budget. All in all it was scary and sick.
I could see how the acid would help. I did like those moving tree shots in the beginning.
If you think that’s weird - check out the ’smiling off’ video.
