The Rapture – Whoo! Alright-Yeah…Uh Huh
(Ben Dickinson)

Finally, the follow-up video from The Rapture’s dance-rrific new album Pieces of the People We Know!! It feels like its been a lifetime waiting for this, especially after listening to the album at least 50 times over. I could almost say its become one of my good friends as its been with me in my car, at home, and even made an appearance at the SRO Halloween party that I can’t really remember. Good times.
Speaking of which, the premise for this is very simple…Good Times. Although along the way there are some very special old school color effects that give it some extra style ala Schoolhouse Rock. Although a fine shot thats as easily consumable as Skittles, there is an important message that I would like to point out. Or as the boys sing, “People don’t dance no more…” So true nowadays. Seriously, this disease of non-dancing at shows has been spreading like wildfire and to tell you the truth peeps, its scaring me. Watched the Faint with Tv on the Radio last year…no dancing. Tv on the Radio this year…no dancing. We Are Scientists a week later…no dancing. All I’m saying people is that I’m gonna be at the Rapture’s upcoming show in Pomona on friday. Anyone going needs to represent. I know I will, and so will my posse of twinkle toed bandits. If you’re gonna come, then you better come correct. You can’t miss me, i’ll be the guy working it with all the wristbands on and surrounded by ladies! Use this shot to get yourself into it!
Note: The Rapture are running a contest to see who can make another video for “Whoo! Alright – Yeah…Uh Huh” to compliment this one already. Think you can party harder or dance better? Then film that shit and make us proud! Check the YouTube link below for further details.

Seeing them tonight in Austin. I’m gonna get toasted and dance my ass off.
Are we starting our overrated bands of 2006 list already?
I kid, I kid…
woah, new header.
I’m back. Hi! I like this. The mix of animation is fun
yeah FOR sure
The rapture are always fun, but an excuses to have a party on a music video budget. Too many literal imagery but I still love it.
you guys stink so go home and sit on the couch and don’t sing ever again. just kidding no im not maybe i am maybe iam not. you’ll never know haha hahahahahaha!
[...] Moving onto the video, ‘Frantic’ is an aptly titled song for this collection of images, as there is a lot of busy shots and quick cuts. It’s mostly composed of old stock footage with silly colors being animated and drawn over it, coupled with some shots of the band in 70’s garb trying to fit in with the shots. It reminds me of the Rapture video of the same ilk, while not as fun, it does feature the same ‘draw with color’ effects that heighten the faster moments of the song. It’s pretty abstract and hectic, which is fine and works well with the song but at times leaves me wanting more. As I already stated before, they have great energy as a band and I would have liked to see that come across better visually. Either way, the video does its job of selling the song and giving a visual accompaniment to the music, so bravo all around (kinda). If you haven’t checked out their release Hind Hind Legs you should make sure you go out and do that, definitely a top 30 album of the year, maybe even 25 depending on the weather. [...]
