Great Lake Swimmers – To Leave it Behind & Nathan Lawr – Burry Me Blues
(Scott Cudmore)
Spotlight on: Scott Cudmore
Scott Cudmore is an up and coming director from Toronto who does beautiful work for beautiful artists. These two videos were both done for a pittance, a combined cost somewhere in the ballpark of medium sized Coach bag. I know, what a deal. So holla at the man, he does nice work. (below, not Scott Cudmore)

Great Lake Swimmers is mainly Tony Dekker, they are from Canadan and play music that is peaceful, lovable, calming, and reflective (basically music to lie down to to, which is a compliment). This video embodies all those traits and unfolds as a literal interpretation of the song, showing Tony Dekker ‘leaving it behind’ on a desolate beach front while the sun goes down. There isn’t much to the video, but its simplicity goes well with the track, allowing Dekker’s haunting swoon (the major selling point of GLS) to take over the video as well as the song. Go get yourself some Great Lake Swimmers and let it relax you, forgetting about the troubles of your time. You’ll thank me.

Nathan Lawr music is at the exact opposite end from GLS. Despite sharing the attribute of being the majority musician on their songs, Nathan plays upbeat folk rock in the vein David Dondero and Willy Mason. He hails from Canada and is a drumming whore. He was in Royal City, the Sea Snakes, the Minotaurs, and even tour drummed for the Contantines; I guess in Canada they like to pass around their drummers. The video reminds me of a high school musical/play with the background props following Nathan around while he strums his guitar and sings. According to Scott, after failed attempts at acquiring VideoFact funding (basically a Canadian government art grant), they decided to throw this little gem together. I think it worked out nicely and so did other people. Stay tuned for more Scott Cudmore, when we show you what he can accomplish when he actually has a production budget. Sit tight!

I very much like the props and the school play. Kept me entertained.
I like the second video alot. I enjoy home made plays. It’s just fun. I really like the song as well.
