FERGIE

This is what happens when you take an immensely talented choreographer and turn her into a music video director. Stac–uhh I mean, Fergie’s new shot is a smorgasbord of visual iconography. Wizard of Oz? Check. Willy Wonka (Burton Version)? Check. 30’s/40’s Berkley Musicals? Check. Candy Land? Check.

Robinson even throws in a little mix those in the know would call “Product Placement.” Aside from the obvious Trix painted on the backup dancer. We get the in-your-face promotion of Samsung’s new mp3 player, the K5. I’d ask you all if this was really neccessary, but then, this is a Major Label Video for a Major Label Song. It should be expected in the first place.

I get what this shot is trying to do and what not (keep audience interest with outrageous visuals and quick cuts) but I cant keep quiet about this one point. Why deny us the further viewing pleasure of the little white chap that clearly had superior moves beyond any normal human being, let alone those of his size and age. He’s badass and we should’ve had more of him.

Now if you’ll excuse me, after sampling this a few times, I suddenly feel the need to go work on my “fitness”. See you at the gym!

    I worked with Fergie this weekend and asked her the same question…hot dress! Her stylist told me it if from a designer called Shareen. She sells at Diavolina on Robertson in LA.
