Rap videos definitely need more representation here at SRO, I can count two since we began, so I’m going to take it upon myself to showcase some of my favorites from the not so distant past. Let me know if I bore you.

The Figurines‘ Skeleton is a wonderful indie-pop album. Now, I’m not saying that because there are a few good songs on it, but because it is in fact a wonderful album in a wholistic sense. From start to finish, Skeleton keeps you engaged, mixing things up between pulsing, up-tempo rhythms and more folky and relaxed jaunts. The end result is a larger than life indie-ballad that harkens back to Fiona Apple at her finest. Check and mate. [Visit Shots Ring Out to read the rest…]

Will Oldham is such a glutton for the camera. He wants to be a star and once again he returns, front and center in his video for Cursed Sleep. Andy Bruntel tells a little story that follows Will from being a lost and lonely ‘Tree’ man, to a reddened out Ornithologist and finally is wrangled into a wrestling match with everyone’s favorite alien. I know, quite the video. [Visit Shots Ring Out to read the rest…]
