AFI - Love Like Winter
(Marc Webb)

AFI

Alright, so here’s our good buddies A.F.I. coming out with their newest single “Love Like Winter” from their latest release DecemberUnderground. Just like their last video for “Miss Murder” this too is directed by music video vet Marc Webb. Just off the top of my head, I have a few questions/observations regarding the A.F.I./Webb partnerships. [Visit Shots Ring Out to read the rest…]

Joanna Newsom - Sprout and the Bean
(Terri Timely)

In memory of Joanna Newsom’s new album Y’s leaking a few weeks back and in anticipation of it’s proper release that’s just over the horizon, I present you with this reminder. Taken from her much lauded the Milk-eyed Mender album of 2004, ‘Sprout and the Bean’ showcases everything that is Joanna Newsom. My prediction of the new album; the hype is warranted, but I think it will fall short of the album-of-the-year-whispers. I just don’t see myself returning to it, over and over again. When it comes to choosing which Joanna to bring with me on the road, it’s still gonna be MEM.

The Gossip - Listen Up
(Morgen Dye)

GOSSIP

So Portland, Oregon’s most recentish hype band,The Gossip just dropped this dime of a vid on us and are about to release their next single “Standing In the Way of Control.” Their sound doesn’t seem to be my cup of tea, but it seems as though the ladies love them, so I figured I’d give them a shout out here. Broken Social Scene - Almost Crimes
(Kevin Drew & George Vale)

This is the song that started my heart for the band Broken Social Scene. Stumbling around the internet one night I came upon it and downloaded to my WinAmp(iTunes was brand new and I didn’t have a mac yet); the good times have been a-rolling since. BSS are one of the best bands out there so pick up some of their work, you won’t be disappointed.

The Album Leaf - Always For You
(Aaron Stewart AHN)

ALBUM LEAF

As of late, I’ve found myself in somewhat of a love/relationship void. I’m not really into finding someone right now, yet I’m always on the prowl. I both despise women and desire them equally at this stage in my life, resulting in some sort of strange stalemate within my ticker. Which brings me to this new joint from The Album Leaf. Off of their latest release Into The Blue Again, Jimmy Lavalle has crafted, in conjunction with Aaron Stewart AHN (aka: Otaku House), a piece that comes somewhat close to my state of heart right now. Zero 7 feat. Jose Gonzalez - Left Behind
(Adam Bizanski)

So here is my weekly post featuring stop motion animation. Hey don’t yell at me; we all get one a week and I think I actually have a few credits saved up so calm yourself else I threaten with more. By the way, Jose Gonzalez is the shiz and his album Veneer is a buy. Zero 7 is cool too but I’m not really hip to what they are up to these days. (Any help?) From what I can remember they are a duo of the electronic persuasion and like to ‘feat.’ people on their albums, but that’s all I’m good for.
