Where to begin. MCR was always criticized as being some sorta Green Day knockoff. I was always indifferent cause I lost interest in Green Day after their Greatest Hits release and I never got into MCR. Cut to the release of their newest flick for “The Black Parade” and I cant really blame the detractors for taking notice of some standout lifts. Again, here are some items off the top of my head to help you see what I see, ahem:
Number 1 - As you can see from the pic above, we have the whole black shirt/red tie uniforms that conveniently followed on the heels of Billie Joe’s jumpsuit. I’ll let the eye paint slide, but you know I’m being nice.
Number 2 - Writing pop/punk type songs and then switching into Queen-like “Concept Album” territory. American Idiot v.s. The Black Parade 1
Number 3 - Sharing music video directors and consequently, ideas. For instance, Bayer did pretty much all of the videos for Idiot and now ushers MCR (whoops!) TBP into “music videos for concept albums” territory. 2 Need I also mention Green Day’s video for “Minority” which featured a Macys Day Parade in the style of Punks. Oddly familiar to this new “Parade” in the style of Goths.
I’m sure there are more points out there that I’m missing, but I’m not an expert on this, so oh well. I could go on too about the de-hispanizing of the Spanish elements of this video as well (Dia De Los Muertos imagery and Mariachi-inspired outfits -with a Michael Jackson twist- without a Hispanic in sight) but, i gotta go to work and wash some dishes. - Even though Bayer was to retire after the “Jesus of Suburbia” shot. Read the sad and blasphemous article here in which Bayer also states that his ‘September’ clip is superior to that of the ol’ “Smells Like Teen Spirit” shot. Oh how the mighty have fallen…
So that’s what Lukas Haas has been up to! Remember him in Lady in White? I hate Gerard’s (that’s his name, right?) hair and I’m not fond of the Sgt. Pepper’s-ish outfits. Other that that, i think the kids are gonna love it…
I liked the band playing in the forest with snow falling on them. That’s slightly different.
That was afi comment. Move it for me Los. Your right nothing like Green Day. I couldnt possible find that many comparisons between the two bands.
I never liked My Chemical Romance. I always thought their stuff was crap, unoriginal, and the lead singer’s physicial appearance scares me. And what the hell did he do to that godawful hair of his??
I really love MCR! They are the best band! And I love their lyrics and Gerard’s voice. I’m from Norway, and they have so many fans. Almost all off my friends love them, but not everyone in my class. Some of us just love MCR, some of us don’t like them, or haven’t heard of them. My Chemical Romance has beautifull music, which I love!

i love mcr!!! they r the best band in the universe!!! i especially love gerard’s hair, it’s gorgeous!!! i liked it beter when he had it long, black and falling into his face though but now he has short black hair which looks really hot!!!! i am the future MRS.WAY!!!! i love himm soooooo much!!! i think that gerard is a really good singer and i love all of mcr’s songs. i feel sorry for those that dont like them as they dont know what they are missing!!!!!

I love MCR! They’re my favourite and I think gerard is gorgeous…so are mikey and frank though…bob and ray too i ’spose…I put “…” way too much. All those who have been 2 MCR concerts are sooo lucky and those who have me Gerard are even luckier! I seriously think i’im in love…Love the “oh-so-brilliant” MCR fan xx

Ever since I heard that song Teenagers when I was younger I was in love with these guys. I feel they really show a side of humanity we all need to look at. Of course, being a loyal Three Days Grace and The Fray fan I can’t stand to call any my fave. Gerard’s voice just gives you this clear picture of what they’re trying to convey.
