Band of Horses – Great Salt Lake
Whitey McConnaughy

SRO Exclusive: My homepiece Whitey has seriously been tearing things up lately. This joint for Band of Horses, is part two of his double shot of videos for Sub Pop and once again, it’s good times. Fool is en fuego and I think I need to start hanging out with him, cause this vid and The Thermals one are both events I wish I were present for.
Yeah it’s just a day at the park playing softball with the gang, but everytime me and my gang go out, there’s usually 4 or 5 of us, it’s all hot and sweaty, and in the end someone breaks their finger. (Which by the way was not entirely my fault, for the record…) Coors Light or Bud or some beer company needs get on my man’s train and have their commercials done correct, home skillet seems to have the fun genre down to a ‘T’.
A big shout out to Whitey for hookin’ us up phat with this video, if any of you catch him on the street, buy the guy a brew for keeping his rep solid at 2 for 2. As for you kids, play ball!!

dang, this video really makes me hate school because I’m missing out on fall ball because I have a class monday nights. Think of all the good times I’m going to miss…
yeah pretty sure softball teams that good looking don’t exist. at lest not in cal poly intermurals.
pretty much i dug it.
boys with tattos (and girls) softball music = love.
heeey. where did my plus signs go??
My question to you ladies, is when are we gonna create our own game? You bring the girls, and I’ll bring the boys (with and without tattoos) and beer. Game on!
hahaa. game on!
Everything about the band screams boring. The song is boring. They shot in the back of a truck and play the most boring sport on the plant next to curling, Baseball. And they even do it in slow motion. In case it almost got exciting. And fuck it’s softball just to slow down the games some more.
[...] So the Gossip have a newer video for a newer version of their single ‘Listen Up’. Our pal Whitey (BoH, The Thermals) took the director stick in hand, and created disco-dancing, cross-dressing mayhem out of it. With shots that drip of Saturday Night Fever, and drenched in angelic, soulful vocals from leading lady Beth Ditto, the video and song come together superbly. The earlier clip for ‘Listen Up’, directed by Morgan Dye, seemed claustrophobic; locking us in a room with a group of tough puck/riot grrrls who eventually break into dance. Its sense of impending doom and documentary style filming lends it enjoyment and I’m not knocking the clip, but Whitey’s version seems to let things run free — giving Beth Ditto’s voice room to clime and the song’s energy and soul, room to grow visually. I guess the one thing both directors took from the song, is it makes you just want to fucking dance! [...]
[...] From there things start off a little familiar. Like that Whitey helmed, Band of Horses shot for Great Salt Lake. Although instead of going to play softball, the boys are rolling around Hotlanta in search of some [...]
