The Meligrove Band’s new release Planets Conspire is a stellar one in my humble opinion, a little bit of a departure from their Wilson-esque release Let It Grow, but still a barn burning good time. They continue to throw down the CAFP (catchy as fuck pop), but with added energy via more guitars and throaty vocals. Now this might throw some diehard fans off the like-train, but cut them some slack will you, we all need to grow a little. My advice is to listen to Our Love Will Make the World Go Round or Ages and Stages and tell me you don’t want more.
There aren’t many different ways to shoot a music video once you commit yourself to the ‘let’s just film the band playing the song’ path. The Meligrove Band have gone down that road and have created your ‘just average’ music video. No real creativity, just the band in a room with some mirrors, their instruments and a rotating camera. I think this video concept has actually been done about 1000 times and is has now been incorporated as a template in Apple’s new Final Cut release. No wonder why all the bands are doing it! Despite the boring video it’s just good to see the band out and about enjoying some sunshine and fresh air. My favorite part is when the cut to the introspective cave shot. I’m not really sure what they are trying to convey but it seems so out of place and silly. I love out of place, silly things.
Admittedly this video is mediocre at best, but I just wanted to get the word out on them and share. Maybe their next attempt will show more creativity and get them some TV-time. Don’t say I never give you anything.

i guess when you put it “out of place and silly” that makes it more enjoyable. my response was more like “huh?? when did they get in the woods??”
which i guess pretty much sums up out of place and silly….
well. I do like that guy’s white-man fro. And the band.
I think they go to the cave in the woods to do their serious rocking. The implication is that you can’t rock at that caliber in any urban location. In the future, when rock has evolved into super-rock, all shows will take place in caves… caves that look like music videos.
